As one of Kanye West's biggest fans, I feel as though I owe it to him to speak in his defense about this issue. You probably think I'm ridiculously out of line, I mean, to most the guy is an arrogant prick who think's hes god's gift to the world, but I honestly love everything he does. That being said, I do not agree with what he did last night. (Yeah, I'm contradicting myself but keep reading). Obviously he should not have treated Taylor Swift that way, and he made a huge mistake by picking America's sweetheart to do it to. He said it was in the heat of the moment and he apologized for it and I actually believe that he is sincere.
I've watched Kanye over the past three years on his downward spiral. My old roommate's boyfriend and I actually had a theory that he was going to kill himself. After his mother died, there was a drastic change in his music style as well as the way he handled himself. While apologizing about the whole ordeal on Jay Leno last night, Kanye seemed really remorseful and I genuinely believed him. He spoke about how he never really had a grieving process for his mom and how he wanted to take some time off and sort his life out. Good for Kanye. No, really though. It takes a lot of courage to apologize like that after really messing up that badly. Kanye <3

I give props to Kanye for the apology to "the world" but he does have that arrogance that does now precedes him and people kind of expect out of him now. But just because he is a self proclamed "Genius" doesnt mean he cant mess up cause after all he is only human.
ReplyDeleteBtw Love the title of this post
Watching the VMAs (and yes I did watch), I initially found Kanye's moment very unnecessary. However, thinking back, I think Pop Culture's become a good deal more politically correct than it was near the turn of the century. It wasn't that long ago that Eminem was cursing out every other artist on the Billboard 500 and Marilyn Manson was finding new ways of defacing Bibles. Now Eminem's in an Adam Sandler movie and Mr. Manson is hanging out with Lady Gaga.
ReplyDeleteKanye accomplished what he want'd, he want'd everyone to talk about him and this and that but I do agree with you guys he is only human and I'm glad he took responsibility for his actions. He is completly arrogant but he can make some damn good music.
