$375 later and my car is back in my posession. Had a little mix-up Friday night while I was on a pizza delivery. My car wasn't registered because of an excise tax i forgot to pay from 2008, which I'm almost positive I paid... but anyways, Maxine is all good. In honor of her, here is the song I named her after. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgUJdm0e2aI

So my dad wanted me to give him a Christmas list so he'd know what I wanted this year. I hate Christmas lists. Seriously, what is more greedy than asking someone for presents, let alone your parents that have been giving you presents their whole life. I'm 20 years old do I really need to make a Christmas list? I've been arguing with him for a while, telling him I hate the idea but he insisted so I eventually gave-in. So here is my list:

1. Apples to Apples board game
2. Taboo board game
3. gym membership at BSC
4. new sneakers, or gift card to footlocker with which i can buy new sneakers
5. Mrs. Doubtfire on dvd
6. The Departed on dvd
7. Forever 21 gift certificate
8. The Office seasons on dvd (any)
9. Gran Torino on dvd
10. gift certificate to Michael's craft store
11. Pearl Jam "Ten" album... miraculously I dont have this for some reason??

And that's it. I feel bad even asking for all that but the poor guy said he just wants some presents under the tree. What should I get him for Christmas???

Last night I went to the movies and saw Brothers. Don't. If you have a cousin or relative overseas, in my case my cousin is in Iraq, this movie is devastating. I don't watch military related movies anyways because of this, but I clearly had a severe lapse of judgement. Anyways, I'm awful with character names so I'll just use their real ones. Toby Maguire is a Marine and is being deployed to Afghanistan for the second time. He leaves his wife Grace, played by Natalie Portman, and his two daughters at home. After a few weeks there he gets captured after a helicopter crash he's in, but news is sent home that he died. Toby's brother Tommy, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, has just gotten out of jail and is the black sheep of the family. Tommy starts to care for Grace and the kids, builds them a new kitchen, etc. Then Grace gets a phone call that-just kidding- her husband is still alive. He comes home and is wicked psychotic because of things that happened in Afghanistan which I won't tell you because it'll give away the end. Anyways, the movie is sad, the ending is sad, the whole thing just makes you want to rip your hair out. I suggest going to see The Blind Side instead.

And that's all I have to say about that.

The high school principal urged students Thursday morning to help identify the gunman who shot and wounded a 17-year-old dropout on the steps outside the school gym Wednesday evening.

“This violent individual, who totally violated the atmosphere of safety and trust we have at Brockton High, needs to be arrested and prosecuted,” said Principal Susan Szachowicz. “He crossed every line of decency in society.”

Meanwhile, investigators continued interviewing potential witnesses to identify the shooter and any accomplices.

According to police, the victim, identified as Linandl Brown-Madison, had been at the school gym when someone confronted him. He later went outside where he was shot by another person. Brown was listed in stable condition at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton Wednesday night.

Lt. John Crowley, chief of detectives, said no arrests had been made as of 11 a.m.

I also read on the Bostonchannel.com that the shooter is described as a light-skinned black male, somewhere between 5'6 and 5'9, wearing a red sox hat. This is the second Brockton shooting that has been in the news this week. The massacre at the Hess station on the South side in the Sunday paper had my grandparents talking about it all day. It's weird because I always thought that Hess was sketchy and then my friend Tara told me that it's like the most dangerous one in Brockton after dark. Who'd have thought? It's right on Main St! Anyways, the thing that bothered me most about the Hess incident is that four cars were shooting at each other, one man DIED, and three more were injured, and it was in a little section in the newspaper, not even the top story. THIS is why people have no idea what's going on in Brockton. The crime has gotten so bad it's chased out 4 generations of my family. When is something else going to be done about this? 30 years ago Brockton wasn't nearly as bad a place as it is now. Last year when I lived on the South side with my dad for a few months, there was a shooting on my street, in the house diagonal from my apartment. It was a baby shower and there were a bunch of people there and three people were injured, a little girl even died. When did Brockton become South Central Los Angeles?

That's all I have to say about that.

One huge black man + football + Kathy Bates + me crying like a baby for two hours = the best movie I have seen in a long time. The Blind Side was SO GOOD. I highly recommend everyone literally run out and go see it! My boyfriend was laughing at me because I could not stop crying, but this film evoked emotions from me I didn't even know I had! It was funny, it was heartbreaking, it was suspenseful, it was heartwarming, it was everything a movie should be and more. The movie is about a poor kid whose mother is a crackhead and he was pulled from his home by social services and separated from his brother at a young age. His name's Michael but some people call him Big Mike. Big Mike finally gets a chance to go to a really nice Christian school but he isnt doing so well, then he becomes homeless. Sandra Bullock finds him (i forget her name in the movie, then again, I forget what I had for breakfast so this doesn't surprise me at all) and she's rich and the family takes him in and gives him everything he could ever want and I won't ruin the end for you but it's just so good and you have to see it. Now. Go. Get up out of that computer chair and go out and see it and then comment on this and tell me it's not the best damn movie you've ever seen. God I love Kathy Bates.

And that's all I have to say about that.
