$375 later and my car is back in my posession. Had a little mix-up Friday night while I was on a pizza delivery. My car wasn't registered because of an excise tax i forgot to pay from 2008, which I'm almost positive I paid... but anyways, Maxine is all good. In honor of her, here is the song I named her after. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgUJdm0e2aI

So my dad wanted me to give him a Christmas list so he'd know what I wanted this year. I hate Christmas lists. Seriously, what is more greedy than asking someone for presents, let alone your parents that have been giving you presents their whole life. I'm 20 years old do I really need to make a Christmas list? I've been arguing with him for a while, telling him I hate the idea but he insisted so I eventually gave-in. So here is my list:

1. Apples to Apples board game
2. Taboo board game
3. gym membership at BSC
4. new sneakers, or gift card to footlocker with which i can buy new sneakers
5. Mrs. Doubtfire on dvd
6. The Departed on dvd
7. Forever 21 gift certificate
8. The Office seasons on dvd (any)
9. Gran Torino on dvd
10. gift certificate to Michael's craft store
11. Pearl Jam "Ten" album... miraculously I dont have this for some reason??

And that's it. I feel bad even asking for all that but the poor guy said he just wants some presents under the tree. What should I get him for Christmas???

Last night I went to the movies and saw Brothers. Don't. If you have a cousin or relative overseas, in my case my cousin is in Iraq, this movie is devastating. I don't watch military related movies anyways because of this, but I clearly had a severe lapse of judgement. Anyways, I'm awful with character names so I'll just use their real ones. Toby Maguire is a Marine and is being deployed to Afghanistan for the second time. He leaves his wife Grace, played by Natalie Portman, and his two daughters at home. After a few weeks there he gets captured after a helicopter crash he's in, but news is sent home that he died. Toby's brother Tommy, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, has just gotten out of jail and is the black sheep of the family. Tommy starts to care for Grace and the kids, builds them a new kitchen, etc. Then Grace gets a phone call that-just kidding- her husband is still alive. He comes home and is wicked psychotic because of things that happened in Afghanistan which I won't tell you because it'll give away the end. Anyways, the movie is sad, the ending is sad, the whole thing just makes you want to rip your hair out. I suggest going to see The Blind Side instead.

And that's all I have to say about that.

The high school principal urged students Thursday morning to help identify the gunman who shot and wounded a 17-year-old dropout on the steps outside the school gym Wednesday evening.

“This violent individual, who totally violated the atmosphere of safety and trust we have at Brockton High, needs to be arrested and prosecuted,” said Principal Susan Szachowicz. “He crossed every line of decency in society.”

Meanwhile, investigators continued interviewing potential witnesses to identify the shooter and any accomplices.

According to police, the victim, identified as Linandl Brown-Madison, had been at the school gym when someone confronted him. He later went outside where he was shot by another person. Brown was listed in stable condition at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton Wednesday night.

Lt. John Crowley, chief of detectives, said no arrests had been made as of 11 a.m.

I also read on the Bostonchannel.com that the shooter is described as a light-skinned black male, somewhere between 5'6 and 5'9, wearing a red sox hat. This is the second Brockton shooting that has been in the news this week. The massacre at the Hess station on the South side in the Sunday paper had my grandparents talking about it all day. It's weird because I always thought that Hess was sketchy and then my friend Tara told me that it's like the most dangerous one in Brockton after dark. Who'd have thought? It's right on Main St! Anyways, the thing that bothered me most about the Hess incident is that four cars were shooting at each other, one man DIED, and three more were injured, and it was in a little section in the newspaper, not even the top story. THIS is why people have no idea what's going on in Brockton. The crime has gotten so bad it's chased out 4 generations of my family. When is something else going to be done about this? 30 years ago Brockton wasn't nearly as bad a place as it is now. Last year when I lived on the South side with my dad for a few months, there was a shooting on my street, in the house diagonal from my apartment. It was a baby shower and there were a bunch of people there and three people were injured, a little girl even died. When did Brockton become South Central Los Angeles?

That's all I have to say about that.

One huge black man + football + Kathy Bates + me crying like a baby for two hours = the best movie I have seen in a long time. The Blind Side was SO GOOD. I highly recommend everyone literally run out and go see it! My boyfriend was laughing at me because I could not stop crying, but this film evoked emotions from me I didn't even know I had! It was funny, it was heartbreaking, it was suspenseful, it was heartwarming, it was everything a movie should be and more. The movie is about a poor kid whose mother is a crackhead and he was pulled from his home by social services and separated from his brother at a young age. His name's Michael but some people call him Big Mike. Big Mike finally gets a chance to go to a really nice Christian school but he isnt doing so well, then he becomes homeless. Sandra Bullock finds him (i forget her name in the movie, then again, I forget what I had for breakfast so this doesn't surprise me at all) and she's rich and the family takes him in and gives him everything he could ever want and I won't ruin the end for you but it's just so good and you have to see it. Now. Go. Get up out of that computer chair and go out and see it and then comment on this and tell me it's not the best damn movie you've ever seen. God I love Kathy Bates.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Remember that skit on All That from back in the day with Lori-Beth Denberg and she was the librarian and screamed at kids for being loud in the library? How can we get her to come to BSC to yell at the kid scream-talking behind me? Where's the blowhorn when I need it?

This made me think of all the other great skits that used to be on All That. Remember Randy and Mandy who worked at that chocolate store, or was it a chocolate cooking show or something? Also that Lori-Beth skit called Vital Information. I remember one was like "If you don't know the difference between bologna and underwear, then I'm not eating lunch at your house!" There's a million hilarious ones, and I just found a list and I'm pumped hahaha. Here it is: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/All_That.

Other memorable skits include Earboy or Pizza Face, Good Burger, Ask Ashley, the one with the girls bathroom, Pierre Escargot, and tons more I can't think of... so I guess maybe they aren't memorable?

Anyways, that's all I have to say about that.

Desperate Housewives has been the talk of my apartment for the last week. There has been much speculation over who is going to die. Each news report about Sunday night's episode seems to be predicting a different outcome. Some sources say that one character that has been there since season 1, and two smaller characters. Since a lot of the sources say "actor" many people say it won't be an actual housewife, which I agree with since they already killed off Edie last season. My roommate seems to think Carlos will be the main character to die, and maybe Lynette's twins for the other two. I, however, have different opinions, and they are as follows:

Carlos- no. He has already been blind, been cheated on, been to jail, and had his eyesight returned to him. He's already been through too much.

Orson- possible. his story line has been kind of dry lately, but he hasn't been on the show since season one so it might be unlikely, but he could be one of the secondary characters. He's been backed into a corner with all the skeletons in his closet falling out, and the only way to reverse everything is to write him out.

Karl- possible. Since he was on early on, divorced Susan and left, and then returned, he has been on since season 1. Also, his affair with Brie will end in disaster anyways so this might as well be the disaster to end it.

Katherine- what a psychopath. I honestly hope it's her I can't stand the woman. Her psychotic melt downs have been getting old, I think it's time for her to go.

Lynette's unborn twins- what a cruel one this would be, but a lot of people have predicted this, or say that at least 1 will die. Let's hope not.

Andrew- it could quite possibly be Andrew. It was said that he asked to be taken off contract this season so that he could have more time to work on other projects. Maybe he found another one he needed to dedicate more time to?

Juanita- hahahahaha

Julie- could be Julie but she's been through so much this season i dunno how likely it is

Mike- both Mike and Julie are both not listed on the show for 2010 so it could be either of them! And it said tragedy strikes for one housewife in particular so it could be Susan-- I hope not, she's my favorite!

Of all the sites I looked at, I didn't see anyone mention Tom, Lynette's husband. If it's been leaked that one of the twins die, it could also be Lynette who suffers the tragedy. If you think about it Tom would be the most interesting person that could die. He is pretty much just another kid Lynette has to take care of, and has been whiny this season, and last... actually every season. He is extremely selfish and never helps Lynette as much as he should, plus besides his midlife crisis and the appearance of his illegitimate child, he hasn't really had any major problems. I think it's Tom, and I'm calling it right now.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Radaronline – There are 30 nude photos and eight sex tapes of former Miss California Carrie Prejean, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively. It’s the most shocking turn yet in a scandal that has continued to follow the woman whose anti-gay marriage stance led to a national controversy and pitted her against pageant organizers. Now a RadarOnline.com investigation has uncovered that there are SEVEN more “biggest mistakes” of her life – all of them solo performances, just like the one sex tape that the religious beauty queen has admitted to. And there are 30 photos of Carrie, most topless, some showing everything, and most taken by Carrie using her reflection in a mirror. In her newly released book Carrie wrote, “God gave us our bodies, and it’s perfectly right that we use them in ways where we can give glory to God by making our bodies, our temples of the Holy Spirit, strong and fast.”

Really?? Reallyyy? Does this even surprise anyone anymore? Honestly, where do they find these girls? I can't fathom the idea that there aren't wholesome, smart, attractive girls out there anymore. Isn't it someone's job to like, pick who is in these pageants? How do these girls keep slipping through the cracks? Ok, if you want to make a sex tape, all the power to you, but stop littering these pageants with your scandalous baggage. I feel like I hear this same story every day. I mean seriously, what are these pageants are advertising these days? Is there like some guy that goes out looking for loose women to parade around on stage and then later pulls all the skeletons out of their closets? I especially like the quote at the end where she tries to justify exploiting her body. I just don't get it.

1000 awesome things

I found this website today that is definitely blog-worthy. If you ever find yourself in a bad mood, I'd suggest going to this website and looking around. It's called 1000awesomethings.com and it's just a huge list of often over-looked awesome things in every day life. For example, #995 is "finding money you didn't even know you lost." This just happens to be one of my favorite things of all time. When I try on a pair of jeans I haven't worn in a while and I find-even a dollar- remember, I'm in college, I'm thrilled. $20s are the best. Actually, I found a $100 in my snowboarding jacket last year, talk about the best day. But yeah, this site is awesome and I recommend giving it a look-over.

I'm seriously loving the Real World/Road Rules Ruins this season. As always there is already tons of drama surrounding every situation. This week Tonya got kicked off for hitting Veronica (obviously my favorite) in the face, which of course is against the rules and gets you kicked out of the house. Every person on the show has different character traits/flaws whatever you want to call them.

Veronica: has the best name ever, always speaks her mind and is a huge bitch. very pretty, causes drama at times, but is a strong competitor. obviously my favoriteee

Tonya: always drunk, always yelling, always whining, always fighting. thank god she went home this week. good riddance.

Johanna: stuck in the middle between Wes and Kenny's fighting, but she did it to herself. does well with dodging the issue, hasnt been in the limelight too much.

Casey: easily the worst competitor, the champions are just keeping her in the game because shes weak for the other team and puts them at an advantage. she definitely lost the challenge for her team this week.

Wes: the bad guy. everyone loves to hate him. he likes to try to manipulate people. people aren't really falling for it. wes dated johanna for 3 years and was engaged to him, and then she dated kenny, and now they are all together on the Ruins so it makes for interesting tv, obviousy

Derrick: I've always loved Derrick even when he was an asshole in the previous challenges. He is a tough competitor and is kind of in the background so far this season. I'm interested to see what happens with his usual hard-headed self.

Brad: easily my favorite guy. he is the cutest and is also a tough competitor for the challengers side (even though theyve lost every challenge so far).

Evan: he has turned a 360. he's sketchy and i'm calling it right now... he was all lovey dovey with my girl Veronica at first and now he is bitching at her and talking about her behind her back to everyone else when tonya is the one that instigated the fight? doesn't make sense, not at all.

Cohutta: one of my favorite. so laid back, so easy going. wicked cute accent, nice to everyone ect.

these are the only characters I really care about. everyone else is wicked boring so far this season. we'll see what happensss

Baby Survives Being Hit By Train

On October 20, 2009 in Melbourne, Austrailia, an infant was run over by a train and miraculously survived. When I first saw this headline I just couldn't believe it. The video footage breaks your heart, I can't imagine being the mother in that position. I found this story on Barstool Sports and I totally agree with the Prez says. Why the hell is the mother on the stretcher? From what I saw from the video she was nowhere near the train when the baby got run over. Crazy story either way.

Falcon

Ok did ANYONE see the news today? Unbelievable... or it was until I found out the outcome of the story.

(CNN) -- The 6-year-old Colorado boy who is believed to have set adrift a helium balloon Thursday, prompting ground and air searches, has been found alive, authorities said.

The balloon landed near Keenesburg, Colorado, about 60 miles from its Fort Collins departure point. Falcon Heene was found in a box in the attic of his family's Fort Collins home, according to authorities. People across the world watched Thursday as the homemade helium balloon soared 7,000 feet over eastern Colorado for more than an hour and a half. A sibling said he saw the Falcon get into the craft Thursday morning, authorities said.

But the boy was not inside the craft when it made a soft landing near Keenesburg, about 60 miles from its starting point, at 1:35 p.m. (3:35 p.m. ET). Shortly after the landing, authorities launched a ground search and suggested that Falcon never took off in the balloon. "I'm very confident we will find him. I think it's a matter of him being a little scared," Larimer County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Eloise Campanella said. "Maybe he's not ready to be found."

Falcon's parents, science enthusiasts Richard and Mayumi Heene, were featured on the 100th episode of ABC's prime-time program "Wife Swap" in March, ABC said. According to the network's Web site, the Heene family devote its time "to scientific experiments that include looking for extraterrestrials and building a research-gathering flying saucer to send into the eye of the storm." Richard Heene is a meteorologist and former television weatherman who has submitted to CNN iReports accounts of his sons helping him chase Hurricane Gustav, among other contributions.

The dome-shaped balloon, about 20 feet long and 5 feet high, appeared to be a Mylar-coated helium balloon, similar to a party balloon. It had been tethered to the family home, the Larimer County Sheriff's Department said. The boy got into the craft Thursday morning and undid the rope anchoring it.

Before the balloon touched the ground, fears that the boy could be riding in the soaring vessel prompted the Colorado Air National Guard to launch a rescue mission Thursday afternoon to see if the agency could use a helicopter to steer the aircraft to safety, a spokesman said. Officials could not immediately confirm how fast the balloon was going while airborne.

Marc Friedland, the family's next-door neighbor, said he saw Richard Heene working on the giant Mylar balloon in the backyard. "Basically, the whole family was out there and they were working with it," he said. "When I came back is when I found out that the event happened." He said the aircraft was intended to hover around 20 feet in the air and was not intended to carry people. "Obviously, something went wrong with that."

Friedland described his neighbors as "a great family. They're unusual, yes, of course. He's sort of a scientist-slash-inventor. They're storm chasers -- they go after tornadoes, hurricanes, things like that," he said. "He's a great kid," Friedland said of Falcon. "We see him a lot and they come over and they're always friendly."

What a little sneak! As I was watching the footage on the news my roommates and I were freaking out. Everyone thought he was in the balloon but he wasn't! I can't imagine being one of his parents and going through that entire ordeal. His parents, however, strike me as a bit odd. "The Heene family devote it's time 'to scientific experiments that include looking for extraterrestrials and building a research-gathering flying saucer to send into the eye of the storm.'" Hm..... what to say about this. I guess the fact that this doesn't really surprise me that this is the family that this happened to. Did his parents ever tell him "Don't play near the big balloon in the backyard." What kid of kid doesn't want to play with a huge balloon? Also, what kind of parent names their kid Falcon?

If that was my kid I honestly don't know what I would do. How would you punish him?

Look At The Treeeee

Since my last blog was depressing, I figured I'd switch it up with some hilarious videos. These are links to a few of my favorites I've found over the years:

These should keep you occupied for now. My favorite one is probably the last one because that lady is the epitome of my mother. One day my aunt was joking with me on the phone and said she needed one of those long phone cords so she could bring the phone all around the house. I laughed and sent her the Phone Call video. I also sent her Look At The Tree. She loved both of them and now the lines from each are frequently repeated at all family gatherings, and they never seen to get old haha.

Soccer Mom Death

Pistol-packing soccer mom Meleanie Hain was shot dead while chatting with a friend on a webcam, police said.

(CNN) -- A Pennsylvania soccer mom was chatting with a friend via webcam when she was shot to death by her husband, who then went upstairs and shot himself, police said Friday.

Meleanie Hain, 31, made national headlines last year as the mother who carried a loaded, holstered handgun to her 5-year-old daughter's soccer game.

She was found dead in her Lebanon, Pennsylvania, home along with her husband, Scott Hain, 33, on Wednesday evening, Lebanon police said.

Hain was in her kitchen talking with a friend via webcam just before her death, police said.

The friend, who police will not name, was looking away from the computer screen when he heard a shot and a scream, police said. He turned back to the monitor, he told police, and no longer saw Meleanie Hain but instead saw Scott Hain firing several rounds from a handgun toward where his wife had been.

Police said that the woman's body had already fallen to the floor by the time the friend turned back to the screen.

Scott Hain then went upstairs to a bedroom, where he shot himself in the head with a 12-gauge shotgun, police said.

Meleanie Hain was shot several times with a 9 mm handgun, police said. Her fully loaded 9 mm handgun was found in her backpack hanging on the back of the front door.

The couple's three children were home at the time of the killings, police Capt. Daniel Wright said. They were unharmed and took refuge at a neighbor's house before police arrived, he said.

Investigators have confiscated the webcam and computer, but cannot review what the friend says he saw because the online conversation was not recorded.

The death of the couple came four months after Meleanie Hain told her attorney she was separating from her husband, her attorney, Matthew B. Weisberg, told CNN Thursday. However, police said the couple still appeared to be living together.

Meleanie Hain drew media attention on September 11, 2008, when she carried a Glock strapped to her belt to her daughter's soccer game.

Nine days later her permit to carry a gun was revoked by Lebanon County Sheriff Michael DeLeo, who claimed she showed poor judgment by wearing the weapon to a child's game. County Judge Robert Eby later reinstated the permit.

There are so many things wrong with this story I don't even know where to begin. Obviously these people had issues deeper seeded than is obvious. What I would like to know is why isn't there more information about the woman packing heat at her daughter's soccer game? What in God's name was she doing with a loaded gun... in a holster no less. This story has so many ridiculous aspects to it. It's a tragedy and I wouldn't treat it as any less. This is such a sad situation for everyone involved especially the kids. I'm wondering what the motive is. I'd say that "friend" she was talking to was more than a friend. Just sayin.

Farmville

I am officially addicted to Farmville. It's an interactive game on facebook where you have like a piece of land and you grow crops and raise animals and stuff. It's completely ridiculous and time consuming but I love it. Right now I'm on level like, 8. All my friends either have it or make fun of me for having it but seriously this game is so fun haha. You grow crops and get money once the seeds have grown and you harvest them. Once you have enough coins you can plow more land and buy seeds. I can't even believe I'm blogging about this because it's completely crazy but I need to tell the world about this addictive game! :)

Melrose Place

Ok so I've found my new guilty pleasure... Melrose Place on the CW or whatever network that is. Only I don't watch it when it's on because I always miss it... so I watch it online haha. But really, it's great. Ashlee Simpson is on it and she's like the worst actress of all time and she plays this crazy psychopath. Everyone on the show is obviously ridiculously good looking and everyone has a deep dark secret. It takes place in California and it's about all these twenty-somethings that live in an apartment complex. It's the same premise that the original show had, and it's wicked dramatic.

Auggie is my favorite character, and yes it's mainly because I think he's the best looking. He's a chef at a resturant and the first episode insinuated that he killed the landlord of the complex who was an older lady that had relations with two of the young men in the complex, Auggie and David, as well as David's father.

David grew up in a trailer park but his mom died of cancer when he was about 9 or something and his mom called his dad to tell him he had a son and that he had to take care of him. David's dad is extremely wealthy and kind of had a family already so that screwed things up for him so now David's dad resents David blah blah.

Ella is a publicist who puts her job before everything else in her life and is a real hard-ass. She hardly ever shows emotion but she definitely has a secret crush on Jonah and I'm calling it right now. Why else would she try to get in between him and his fiance all the time?

Jonah is an up and coming film director but can't seem to get past making Bar Mitzvah and birthday party videos. He asks his fiance Riley to marry him the first episode and she hesitates for a day before saying yes.

Riley shows further reservations when she accidentally kisses Auggie when she's drunk and pissed at Jonah. She's a school teacher and Ella always makes fun of her for it because she thinks she's too simple for Jonah.

Lauren, Ella's roommate, is a med student who's dad just got laid off so she needs to find a new way to pay for med school. She can't get a loan or anything but really wants to be a doctor so she goes for the only decision she has, prostitution. She becomes an escort kind of on accident when this cute nice rich guy that asks her on a date asks her at the end of the date if she'll have sex with him and he'll give her like $2,000 for school. She can't pass this up and ends up also having relations with his friend for the same thing. In the latest issue she hooks up with this one guy but he doesn't pay her and then he pushes her into a wall and bruises her.

Violet, my least favorite, is Ashlee Simpson and she's a certified psychopath. She claims to be the landlord, Sydney's daughter even though Sydney (before she died) insists that she is not. Violet becomes a suspect in Sydney's murder after she flees from the cops when they come to question her and she jumps out the window. Riley ends up bailing her out of jail.

So that's just an overview. It's a pretty stupid show to be honest but I find myself infatuated with it haha. It's on Tuesdays at 9, or you can watch it online whenever like me :)

Show Premiers Tonight

The Desperate Housewives season premiere is on tonight and I am beyond excited. I can't believe I survived a whole summer without this show haha. I've watched this show pretty much religiously since it first started. My favorite character is Susan, only I wish she wasn't as ditzy. I also really like Gabrielle.

The premiere looks like it's going to be exciting with both Susan and Catherine in wedding dresses, who knows who Mike is going to marry at the altar! I pretty much forget the finale but I'm sure they'll have a refresher right before the premiere.

Another show that premieres tonight that I'm looking forward to is The Cleveland Show. I'm not sure how this is gonna go. It could either be really awesome or really stupid. I have high hopes.. I better not be disappointed!

Gone Too Far

DJ AM was found dead in his New York City apartment on Friday, August 28th around 5:20pm. His cause of death has not yet been determined, although there were prescription drugs found in his apartment. -People.com

I had no idea that this happened? I don't know if I was living under a rock or what but until the VMAs I honestly had no idea. This is so sad. I have a good feeling it probably had something to do with survivors guilt but of course I can't say that for sure.

DJ AM was in the process of making an MTV show, 8 episodes long, called Gone Too Far. MTV is in talks with his family to see if they are still going to air the show. The show is an intervention-type documentary, where DJ AM helps young adults and their families with interventions.

The whole story is just sad to me. Tragic.

Peter's Progress

Just watched the Family Guy episode: Peter's Progress... pretty funny. My favorite episode is still Stewroids but this one was still good. Is it just me or does Family Guy get progressively better each season? I know there was a time when it was not as funny as this. Madame Claude cracked me up. A lot of critics say she wasnt Jamaican enough but I think it was supposed to be a fake Jamaican accent so she could be more like the infamous Ms. Cleo.

Mikey

My last post reminded me of something else. My Uncle and I weren't the only ones in the kitchen that day. My cousin Mikey was also in there, someone who has been there for my my whole life. I've considered Mikey and his younger sister Gabrielle my siblings basically for as long as I can remember. When we were a lot younger I was at their house every day while my mom was at work, and we'd play all day. House, office, dance, video games, everything. One time Mikey had chicken pox and Gabrielle and I weren't allowed to go near him. Obviously we snuck up to play with him and sure enough the next week Gabrielle and I both had chicken pox at the same time.
The last day of my sophomore year of high school I went to the beach with both Mikey and Gabrielle. After that Mikey and I went to the Oasis concert. It was funny because I'd been listening to Oasis since I was 5 and sang that song to my uncle in his kitchen. ( I think I forgot to mention this in my last post but my uncle gave me his (What's the Story) Morning Glory cassette after I asked). So since the concert Mikey has been calling me his Wonderwall.
My junior year of high school Mikey joined the army. He scored ridiculously high on his army entrance exam and chose the job of an EOD tech, which stands for Explosives Ordinance Disarmament, an extremely dangerous job any way you look at it. After that I barely saw him unless he was home on leave, and even when he was I was either at school or working constantly. He spent 15 months in Afghanistan last year, and he finally came home last winter-ish. After that he was stationed in Georgia, so again, it was a long time between visits. He is deploying for Iraq for 12 months very soon but is coming home on leave for a couple weeks before he goes. Obviously this is hard on my family but we are very proud of Mikey and he loves what he does.
I'm definitely going to miss Mikey when he is in Iraq, and I pray for him everyday, as well as the rest of our troops.

You're My Wonderwall

Today I interned for the first time at WBIM. Meg and I are both interns on John's rotation show. I had so much fun and I'm pretty sure I've made up my mind for "what I want to be when I grow up". I've always been sure that I wanted to do something that I had fun at and made me happy. Now I'm not counting my eggs before they hatch here but I'm pretty sure this is the job for me.
I've loved all kinds of music for as long as I can remember. You know those annoying facebook tag pics that people comment on 94367 times and you get 94367 notifications and they piss you off? Yeah well, I am usually the one to get the "listens to good music" tag. I'm not bragging... music is just my thing. I don't play any instruments, unless you count the mediocre piano lessons I used to take when I thought I was going to be the next Beethoven but didn't practice enough and eventually just quit because, for some strange reason, I wasn't getting any better! Anyways, I've always liked music; concerts, cds, mp3s, whatever...everything about it. I remember I heard this song on the radio once and I know I'm gonna get a lot of eyerolls for this one but I'm gonna go on with my story anyways haha. So I was about 5 years old, standing in my uncle's kitchen, singing this song I heard on the radio because I really liked it and I was dying to know the name of it. My uncle was also huge into music, he has a whole room dedicated to it in his house. My uncle said the name of the song was "Wonderwall" by Oasis ( I know, I know, Oh my God, what a loser) But that is my earliest memory of my music obsession.
As I grew older I started going to more concerts, buying more cds, getting more for Christmas and Birthdays, downloading songs offline, burning mix cds for my friends (the requests were endless- you know who you are). I always knew I wanted to work with music in one way or another. Interning today was so much fun, and I can't wait to see how far it gets me.

Kanye West Likes Fish Sticks

As one of Kanye West's biggest fans, I feel as though I owe it to him to speak in his defense about this issue. You probably think I'm ridiculously out of line, I mean, to most the guy is an arrogant prick who think's hes god's gift to the world, but I honestly love everything he does. That being said, I do not agree with what he did last night. (Yeah, I'm contradicting myself but keep reading). Obviously he should not have treated Taylor Swift that way, and he made a huge mistake by picking America's sweetheart to do it to. He said it was in the heat of the moment and he apologized for it and I actually believe that he is sincere.
I've watched Kanye over the past three years on his downward spiral. My old roommate's boyfriend and I actually had a theory that he was going to kill himself. After his mother died, there was a drastic change in his music style as well as the way he handled himself. While apologizing about the whole ordeal on Jay Leno last night, Kanye seemed really remorseful and I genuinely believed him. He spoke about how he never really had a grieving process for his mom and how he wanted to take some time off and sort his life out. Good for Kanye. No, really though. It takes a lot of courage to apologize like that after really messing up that badly. Kanye <3

Lil Wayne Behind The Music

I've always been a fan of Lil Wayne, but i never knew it. How does that make any sense whatsoever you ask? Well, a long long time ago, perhaps around 6th or 7th grade, I heard a song on the radio called "Back That Thang Up". Haha. There was a verse in the track that I particularly liked. This guys voice was unlike anything I had heard before. I thought the scragly voice I heard on this record was so weird but I liked it anyways. I never really looked any further into it than that. Then a little while later, that Beyonce song came out called "Soldier". Low and Behold there was that voice again. Also, this time, I knew it was someone called Lil Wayne, but there were so many "lil" whatevers out at the time that I just figured he would fall through the cracks like everyone else. Once I got to college, everyone was all of a sudden talking about this guy Lil Wayne. It seemed like everyone knew who he was and everyone loved him. "Where the hell have i been?" I asked myself, since I really didn't have a clue how this guy got to be so famous seemingly overnight.
Anyways, as I was watching VH1's Lil Wayne Behind The Music the other night, I learned that it was him on all those tracks, and he had been working his way up the whole time without me even realizing it. How did this guy slip through the cracks? When it comes to music I usually know what I'm talking about but I definitely didn't see this coming. I actually didn't even remember he was on that Soldier track until my roommate, Jess, pointed it out to me the other night.
I'm kind of rambling now so I'm done. Not really used to blogging yet but this'll get better I promise :)

First Post?

My name is Veronica. I'm a junior at Bridgewater State College and I've created this blog for my COMM 229 class. I've always been skeptical of blogging but since it's required I really had no choice haha. I'm interested to see where this goes.
